Question: Biotechnology is evolving rapidly, yet it’s often seen as an exciting, future-proof career. What makes biotechnology such an attractive choice for students today?
Dr. Karthikeyan: Biotechnology is a truly multidisciplinary field that integrates biology, technology, and innovation to address some of the world’s most pressing challenges. From advancing healthcare and improving agricultural practices to developing sustainable solutions for the environment, biotechnology is at the forefront of global progress. As new challenges continue to arise, the demand for skilled biotechnologists is steadily increasing, making this an exciting and critical field for the future.
Mr. Balaji Saravanan: Biotechnology is growing very fast. With new developments like CRISPR, regenerative medicine, and personalized healthcare, we are seeing big changes in how we approach diseases and treatments. Every day there is something new happening, which makes this field so exciting. During my time at KVCET, I worked on biomedical research projects, and that’s when I became even more interested in pharmaceutical biotechnology. Today, I am fortunate to be working on medical solutions that can really improve patients’ lives and change healthcare for the better. When I think about my own journey, I realize biotechnology has been a fulfilling and exciting path. It’s a field where you can not only grow professionally but also contribute to something that can change lives. For me, it’s been an incredible experience, and I truly believe it can be the same for you.
Dr. D. Thirunaaukarasu: From a clinical perspective, I’ve seen firsthand how biotechnology is transforming patient care. We’re increasingly relying on biotech breakthroughs, like CRISPR gene therapies and regenerative medicine, to not only address the root causes of diseases but also to personalize treatments for individual patients. The integration of biotechnology into clinical practice is truly revolutionizing how we approach both diagnostics and therapy. For students considering a career in this field, the chance to bridge lab research with real-world patient care makes biotechnology an incredibly promising and fulfilling path.
