Biomedical Engineering

I gladly share here, a value added experience gained when we visited the Pathology and Anatomy laboratory at Karpaga Vinayaga Institute of Medical Sciences & Hospital, which is functioning in our KVEG campus.

The visit without any doubt added another dimension to our hitherto understanding of anatomy and physiology.   In anatomy laboratory, we were shown various specimens of human organs.

The cadaver and anatomy museum at KIMS too made the visit worthwhile. Professors and Doctors explained well the structure and function of human organs. It was really very interesting and added clarity to the subject.

In histopathology laboratories, they explained processing of tissue for diagnosis of diseases. This information did help during my final year project. In my project, I was interested to investigate applications of hydroxyapatite in dentistry.

I have got a wonderful opportunity at KVCET, because Karpaga Vinayaga Institute of Dental Sciences (KIDS) is also located in our campus. The dental surgeons mentored us during our project. The pathology department gave us suggestions for any course correction now and then based on our experimental results.

It was comfortable to complete my project well due to multiple facilities within the campus itself. In my opinion, these facilities and expertise available and accessible in the same campus give an unique advantage and opportunity for Biomedical Engineering students of Karpaga Vinayaga College of Engineering and Technology.
